365 Days of Tea - Day 35: Infusion Friday 4 - Jasmine Dragon Pearls + Citrus Kiss.

So I reached out to Xing tea, and not only are they sending me tea to review, but also a tshirt. Which is totally awesome in my book. I'm also getting a graze box which is a healthy box of snacks. You can get a box free here. Click on it, you know you want to.

I decided to mix a loose leaf and a tea bag this time. I want to see what the outcome would be, if it were unique in any way. I'm mixing Jasmine Dragon Pearls, which you can see in the bottom half, and Citrus Kiss in the top half. I'm hoping that it adds some green tea flavor, since citrus kiss doesn't contain a lot of it to being with.

It carries a very similar aroma as the citrus kiss, but with some jasmine. The jasmine itself, is very subtle, sorta like it barely brushes against your nose. There isn't much else to say that hasn't already been said at this point. Its very citrusy, lemon, oranges, all of it kind of tickles your nose.

Its very citrusy flavor. You can taste the lemon grass, and the added sweetness from the stevia. The jasmine is there, but not very strong. Its the last taste on your palate. Sadly though, it didn't add anymore green tea flavor, but I think its pretty good anyways. I think that it could have been better if I just used regular green tea,  but sadly, I don't have any!

I think its a decent infusion but its not something I'd do again. I feel like its a waste of the jasmine, basically because it gets so muddled. The citrus kiss is just a very strong tea, as opposed to the not so strong jasmine, so it was easily over powered. (TEA WARS!)

365 Days of Tea - Day 28: Infusion Friday 3 - Nantucket Nector's Half & Half.

I was debating on whether or not I'd define this one as an infusion, but I decided that it is. I think that infusions are just combinations of teas with other teas and/or juices. Thats my definition and I'm sticking to it. Haters gonna hate.

Nantocket Nectars is... actually made in Texas. I just found that kind of amusing. Its a pretty common brand here in Maine, and I've tried a few of there products. They seem very natural and not as processed as some other products. It contains SUGAR, instead of that there corn mess.

It carries a very sweet lemony scent, with a very slight tea under tone. It doesn't however, smell processed. You can kind of tell if its processed a lot by whether the scent is very raw, or chemically. It smells great.

Its very lemony, much like what the aroma suggested, but it isn't too sweet either. I don't taste much tea flavor, but it is there and adds a tiny bit of bitterness as well as a roasted leaf-like flavor. Although that common tongue might not notice it as much as I do. I really enjoyed it.

Its decent. Very good grab-and-go kind of product. I know that half and half has been done a lot before, but I think its done much better here than most. It isn't overly sweet, or overly processed. It tastes like real lemons, and tea.

365 Days of Tea - Day 21: Infusion Friday 2.

New graphics thanks to https://www.facebook.com/CBPArtPhoto. They look really fantastic. Let me know if you enjoy them as much as I do.

Today I'm doing things sort of differently than I usually do. I want to infuse the blue berry with the mint, but the blue berry requires a much longer steeping time, so I'm creating TWO different teas and combining them after they are steeped. I think this is the only want to get a perfect infusion.

In this image I am brewing both teas. The blue berry in the tumbler, and the mint in the glass mug. (These are the only infusers I have at this time :< Send me some?) I'm using Organic Whole Plant Blue Berry Tea, and Jade Citrus Mint Tea. Let's hope this works!

Finally I combine them completely. It was still pretty hot so I didn't touch it for about ten minutes. Apparently my tumbler doesn't like to give up heat, which is a good thing. Ignore my dusty desk.

Smell - The scent of the blue berries is rather lost here. It almost exclusively smells of mint. Mint is a pleasant scent however, so its rather calming. It also smells mildly leafy, probably because the jade citrus mint tea contains some tea leaves as well. I'm excited to try it out!

Taste - Since both teas are generally light in flavor, they actually make a really complex but delicate combination. At first the blue berry tea flavor envelopes your sense, but then a tingling of mint is followed. The mint also carries a cooling sensation down your throat as well. Its really good. My only wish is that the mint came through a little stronger. This might also make some pretty good ice tea, I know the blue berry tea itself does.

Overall - I really enjoy Infusion Fridays, I gives me a chance to make up interesting new flavors and allows my tea to go a bit further. Combinations like these are a really good idea. Although when you think about it, "Blue berry and mint?" it might seem weird, but it works extremely well. What should I try next week?

365 Days of Tea - Day 15: Infusion Friday 1.

Yay! Its Infusion Friday! This might turn into Infusion every day, if I don't get more tea soon. Generally speaking a lot of the infusion Friday's wont be as in depth, and sometimes will be really bad favor combinations. But hopefully not today!

Jade Citrus Dragon Mint Pearls.
(Jasmine Dragon Pearls + Jade Citrus Mint.)

Infuse, or bust? Lets find out!

There isn't much here to say other than that; I've review both teas before, and really enjoyed them. We can see the differences, they are quite obvious here. I let them brew until I felt it was done, (about 5 minutes) I suspect that this might be really good, but you really never know.

Its golden. Its probably made OUT  of pure gold*. You can eat gold you know, and now you can drink it, with your face! (Unless you don't have a face, then... well I'm sorry.)

Smell - It pretty much just smells like jasmine, its a bit more muddled, and carries a tiny bit of mint-y scent. I wouldn't brush my teeth with it, but I kinda want to. Jasmine is a very relaxing and flowery scent, but not in anyway perfumey. Mint is also relaxing. Cause its mint-like.

Taste - Its not horrible. Its just not fantastable. I put even parts of both tea, though, I should have put more mint, and less jasmine. Jasmine pretty much takes over, but it leaves a smoothness that carries a bit of mint on the edge of your tongue. Next time I'd probably do a 30% Jasmine tea and 70% Mint tea. Although, its pretty decent, just falls kind of flat, and lacks depth.

Overall - If you want jasmine tea with a hint of mint, you might really like this. I think it would do a lot better if I had different portions of each tea. Still relaxing to drink, and doesn't contain much caffeine. Mint tea itself is pretty much awesome. I love the cooling effect it has doing down.
